Ortiz Garners Second Team All-SSC Honors

Junior selected by conference for third consecutive year

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Junior Daniela Ortiz received her third All-Sunshine State Conference selection in as many years at NSU, earning second-team honors as voted on by the coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Ortiz (Morelia, Mexico), who was a first-team honoree as a freshman and sophomore, and was 2012 SSC Freshman of the Year, leads the Shark women with a 76.07 scoring average this year. She has a team-high six top-10 finishes, including medalist honors at October's Dennis Rose Invitational.

"Daniela is well-deserving of this award," said head coach Amanda Brown. "She is consistently in the top 10 of the leaderboard nearly every tournament regardless of the field or conditions."

In her three-year career, Ortiz now has 27 top-10 finishes in 36 events. She and the Sharks look next to compete at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional, which will be held May 4-6 in Dade City, Fla., at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.
